The Great Personality:- Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishna

               A philosophical, theological, enlightened teacher takes society from darkness to light. A teacher who sprinkles the sacraments on white squares and blackboards and leads the way on the great path can brighten the future of the country. One of the best sages who changed such a world is our Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishna.

               Today, a man who is immersed in the politics of the country knows how to play politics but this is the personality who changed the direction of politics. It can be said with certainty that the personality of some good people in the country is forgotten with time. Very few peoples knew this personality because this is the queue of this Kali Yuga in which only Ravan Raj praised!!

This is the great man in whose memory we celebrate Teacher’s Day. How to infuse the sacrament? In each of these ceremonies he adopted an educationalist policy. He always said, ‘Education is the supreme basis of human and society’.

Personal Details

Born: – September 5, 1888.

Place of Birth: -He was born in the village of Tirutu in Tamil Nadu. He was a Brahmin.

Father: – Sarvapalli Veeraswamy

 Mother: – Sitamma

 Wife: – Sivakamma

            Dr. Sarvapalli considered the world as a school. He was very interested in teaching. He studied scriptures and philosophies in depth. He played the role of a teacher for 40 years. Radhakrishna’s early education was at a Christian missionary institute in which he taught appropriate teachings to anti-Hindu Christian gurus. He did an M.A. in philosophy. He was also a good writer. He wrote the first book ‘The Philosophy of Rabindranath Tagore’.

Academic Career

In 1916, he was appointed as a teacher of philosophy in Madras Residency College

In 1923, A conference of all the universities of the British Empire was held in Cambridge in which Sarvapalli Radhakrishna had took part and went to England where he has given the speech. All the people were stunned to hear his discourse. He also held events where he went to America after England.

When he returned from abroad, Andhra University called him ‘Dr. Leit ‘degree.

He was given the title of “Sir” by the British Government of England. He laid a very deep foundation of education in India.

Also, He has been offered the Chancellor post of the Banaras Hindu University.

From 1949 to 1952, He became the ambassador of the Union

From 1952 to 1962 he was the first Vice President of Independent India.

He was the second President of India from 1962 to 1968.

He has worked as a visiting Professor at Oxford University for 6 years

In 1989, Oxford University started a scholarship in his honor.

      When he became the President of India, his students and friends told Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan to celebrate his birthday, saying that Radhakrishna refused and suggested celebrating his birthday as Teacher’s Day.

When Dr. Radhakrishna was the Vice President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad was the President. Then in the 19th, China invaded into India. For this, he believed it is the result of India’s weak leadership. There was already bitterness in the relationship between him and Nehru because Dr. Rajendra Prasad and Nehru had similar differences. He was a Congressman. Radhakrishna was firm and steadfast. He was not happy with the functioning of the government but he was bound because the President could do nothing without the approval of the Prime Minister. He was like a parrot in a cage. But He did a very good job during the presidency of everyone who obeyed the rules.

He wrote many books, including the Hindu view of life, the Bhagavad Gita, and the philosophy of the Upanishads.

1963 British Order of Merit

1968 Sahitya Akademi Fellowship (he was the first Indian to receive this award).

       Thus, Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan has made education policy brighter not only in the country but also abroad. Even though he is not among us today, wherever the country is, it is the result of its good education policy and its sacraments.
