Maybe we don’t know many sights of India but, we definitely know about the mysterious places. Even in this, everyone knows about the scary forts of India. Bhangarh is one of the most terrifying forts in India. And no one is allowed to enter before sunrise. A notice board has been set up here. There seems to be a secret hidden in this fort. It is scary to see this place, so let’s try to know about Bhangarh. What are the facts behind this thrilling castle?
The fort is located in Alwar district of Rajasthan. It is a village. This is located within the boundaries of Sariska National Park. The fort is a very scenic tourist destination. Bhangarh Fort is surrounded on three sides by the Aravalli Range.
Who built this fort? : –
The fort was built by Raja Bhagwant Singh of Amer for his youngest son Madhav Singh. Built in 1573. Madhavsinh’s brother was Mansingh BP who was a great general among the Navratnas of Akbar’s court. It was Madhavsinh who completed the entire construction of the fort. Bhangarh had fallen. But how did they know that this fort would be known as the Cursed Fort?!!
Inside the fort: –
This fort is very scenic and captivating as Bhangarh is completely surrounded by Aravalli range. High mountains and the chirping of birds is a paradise on earth!! The fort has four gates, including Ajmeri Gate, Lahore Gate, Fulbari Gate and Delhi. There are temples around the fort.
Keshavrai Temple
Gopinath Temple
Temple of Goddess Mars
Someshwar Temple.
But there is no idol in these temples, only there is an idol of Mahadev in Someshwar temple!! Which is amazing. It is believed that the fort was destroyed by the curse of Indus Sevada Tantric. Not only is the temple protected but the carvings of this temple are also very beautiful. The Gopinath temple is also very attractive which is made of yellow stone carving.
Resolving the fact that there is an idol in Someshwar temple, it was found out that this temple was in the hands of the descendants of Indus Sevada. They used to worship this temple. Therefore, there is only an idol in this temple. There is a beautiful lake near the temple where the people around come to bathe. The house of the priest is located next to this Someshwar temple. It is famous by the name of ‘Purohitji Ki Haveli’. The construction of which is very captivating but today it is in a fragmented state. Seeing this artistic workmanship, it is easy to imagine what a glorious past will be like!! Then comes our Rajmahal. Although the Rajmahal is in a dilapidated condition, the construction of this fort shows the ingenuity of the craftsmen of that time. No one can enter the fort at night as it sounds like someone is making very scary noises. According to the locals, the palace was eight storey high but only three storey have survived the curse of Indus Sevada.
My experience: –
Every tourist who comes here has had amazing experiences. Many people feel ghosts around them here, many start to feel dizzy as soon as they enter the fort. Many feel strangled as they enter. Was. So they took a full tour of the fort and left immediately!!
Secret behind the destruction of Bhangarh Fort: –
Bhangarh was very happy and prosperous for about 300 years. But Bhangarh caught anyone’s eye. According to folklore, there are two stories behind the breakup of Bhangarh.
1) Curse of Guru Balaknath
2) Curse of Indus Sevada Tantric.
There is a saying in Gujarati that a beautiful child can be casted an evil eye by a stepmother!!! This can be said with Bhangarh fort too! Bhangarh fort caught an evil eye of the people of their own town.
1) From the curse of Guru Balaknath: –
There was a monk named Guru Balaknath living in Bhangarh. At that time Bhangarh town was not developed. When there were only forests around, Bhagwant Das had sought permission from Balaknath to build a town there. If the condition is violated, Bhangarh will be destroyed. Then the construction of this town started but the then king Ajab Singh knowingly or unknowingly kept building the building of this town so that the condition was violated. The shadow of the town palace fell on his hut. Bhangarh was spotted violating Balaknath’s condition. Bhangarh was cursed. So the difficult time of Bhangarh came. There was a severe famine in Bhangarh. After the famine of 1783, the population of Bhangarh became less and less and people started leaving the town. Even such a legend is considered to be a cursed fort. Would it really be? God knows!!!!
2) From the curse of Indus Sevada Tantric: –
A beautiful princess lived in a beautiful town of Bhangarh. Its luster like a diamond!, Very beautiful and virtuous woman. Her name is Ratnavati. Its form was discussed all over Bhangarh. Bhangarh lived happily in the fort where a Tantric lived in his hut on a hill at the top of the fort. He used to see Ratnavati every day. He wanted to make the princess his own so he devised a solution.
One day Rani Ratnavati sent her maid to the market to get perfume so Tantric found a solution. And he experimented with his magic mantra in the perfume bottle so that he planned to get the thing where the perfume falls but Ratnavati found out and poured the perfume on a stone so that the stone fell directly on the Indus Sevada. And he died. Before he died he cursed that Bhangarh fort would be further broken and all people would die and his soul would always wander in the fort.
Bhangarh fort was destroyed by the curse of Sadhu Sevada. Then there was a war between Bhangarh and Ajab Garh and Bhangarh was defeated and Bhangarh was destroyed. The people there believe that Bhangarh fort used to have 8 storey buildings but now there are only three storeys building left. Only temples are safe. It is said that even today the souls of many people like Sadhu Sevada and Rani Ratnavati are wandering here. There is still a ban on entry before sunrise and after sunset. People say that there are noises at night and the atmosphere is very exciting.
Local’s belief
The locals believe that due to the mountains and forests around Bhangarh, the sound of the wind and the sounds of wild animals make the fort tingle and so loud that people call it a haunted castle but it is not really a ghost. But no one knows how true this is today.
Journalists from several TV channels have spent the night in the fort. Yet they came out sign-safe. Maybe this will be a rumor? Many such questions remain unresolved here!!
According to researchers: –
Many experts and researchers have been digging for the fort but no concrete evidence has been found yet. Some have found sources of negative energy here. Scientists call the energy that arises in such a confined space as negative energy. But they consider it a source of energy. It is true that no true evidence has yet been found by any of the scientists.

Another way to take is, take bike or car on rent from Jaipur and make your own way to Bhangarh; Way to Bhangarh is also great option.
